Restaurants & Bars 3

Anyone with comments on the "real" Ritz? We're having dinner there on Thrusday night. We had made a reservation a month ago but it turned out to be a misunderstanding and we wound up at the ersatz version across the Common off of Tremont Street. Talk about your letdowns! But this time I made sure it was *the* Ritz, not that dressed up Marriott between the wig shop and the CVS.

Last time I was at the actual Ritz was about 10 years ago. I recall the service being just outstanding. It was like these people were mind readers. They figured out exactly when we wanted more water or wine or had a request, and when we didn't want to be bothered.

But the food was really ordinary. Could have been boiled in a bag back in the kitchen. Nothing offensive, but just ... blah.

Since it re-opened, what do people think? And yes I know it's going to be expensive so don't tell me I can get a much better meal at restaurant X for two-thirds the price. Two of us are going to eat there and the first number on the check will be a 3 and I've budgeted for it. I just want to get a sense of what to expect, that's all.
