Ristorante Aglio serves perfectly prepared Italian dishes in a casual, friendly,atmosphere. It is a sister restaurant of Greenwich Grill. The chef is Japanese but he has had extensive cooking experience in a 2 star Michelin restaurant in Tuscany. The seared foie gras and sweet potato appetizer was excellent. We had grilled octopus, arugula and roasted potato salad, the octopus was lightly salted, it was a wonderful dish. The spaghetti with anchovy, olive oil and batarga was made al dente and was very flavorful and something you will return to this restaurant for, as the taste is addicting.
The grilled fish special was a Tasmanian Sea Trout, grilled to perfection, and the skin on top was so crispy , just the way i like it. Simply served with some mashed potatoes and a piece of lemon.
There were several desserts. Two different varieties of Tiramisu, one was with pineapple. I had the catalana aka Creme Brulee. It was as good as any I have had. The cappuccino was great with a nice foam and a layer of cocoa powder on top.
A plus is, the restaurant was not crowded. We didn't need a reservation. The service was excellent. Plenty of parking right in front. Earlier we tried to get into 2 restaurants in Brooklyn which had an hour and a half wait. Ristorante Aglio is better than both of those. I highly recommend.
