RIP Ralph @ Galatoires

dixie | Feb 10, 2004 08:38 PM

He was my special waiter (nickname Mouse) from maybe 1977 until the 90's, he was THE BEST, I lived a couple of states away but even though I only saw him a few times a year he remembered what I liked...
he always remembered what I liked to drink (extra strong oldfashioned and the white wine Graves)
and he handmade me the garlicbread with extra cheese and a bowl of olives and the special plate of mixed appetizers with the crab maison...he lived away in maybe Covington with birds as pets, he used to be a waiter at the Roosevelt,he had no kids but I know God had a special place for him...
I used to spend a week in NewOrleans every spring and I ate at Gallatoire's 5 out of 7 days......remember no credit cards and waiting in line for hours????
the doorman was a cop and very cool.....told me how drunks went down to the bayou to pee and the alligators got them...haha
