Rio Churrascaria - a glutton's dream come true

Right after having lunch last week in Little India, I passed this new restaurant on East 26th Street & Park Avenue South. It's a spacious room with a soaring ceiling. Tuxedoed waiters wheeled by with various carts of meats and salmon . My interest piqued and I went inside and was also shown a very appetizing array of salad offerings ranging from the usual greens to sushi, ceviche, and lots of seasonal vegetables. Just too many to list here.

The lunch and dinner for all you can eat where the meat and salmon is carved tableside, plus all you want salad that you serve yourself, is $50.95 for both lunch and dinner.

However, at LUNCH on Monday and Friday ONLY, there is a lunch business special of $20.95 for your choise of meat or salmon carved tableside plus the salad bar which sounds like a terrific deal as well.

I'm going to check this out soon and will report how the food is. It did look terrific and for hungry hounds, this is the place to try in an otherwise so-so neighborhood to chow down in. It's fairly new and I was told they have another restaurant in Florida and are part of a Brazilian chain.

Rio, 360 Park Avenue South, (212) 252-7080
