There's a pretty good raspado cart outside of La Raza Market on the corner of 22nd and MacDonald.
The raspados are shaved from a big block of ice by hand, to order. I am not really sure if the syrups are home-made or not. There were two fresh mangos on sticks for decoaration on the cart. NO English spoken, so I ordered what I assumed was mango, but while orange, it was a pleasant vanilla flavored raspado.
Syrups were in what were once plastic gallon milk jugs. Nicely mixed so the ice/syrup was evenly distributed ... no extra syrup ... no patches of white ice.
Two bucks and vastly superior to the slurpies at 7-11 up the street.
For some reason that hand-shaved ice really lasts. I was doing some errands and kept leaving the raspado in the car, yet the ice held up for quite a wuile.
