Rice pudding at Nazar

Wendy L. | Feb 7, 2002 12:06 AM

I went to Nazar for the second time and it was even better than the first. I brought my in-laws to experience this fantastic place, share the wealth and play hero for the night.

I digress...I've always hated rice pudding since I was a kid and I'm not a picky eater. When the waiter brought a series of five desserts over, one of them was baked in a little bowl. I immediately thought, holy cow! he must've given us more of those baked dumplings in yogurt sauce! Hey, we had some for an appetizer but sure as heck I'm not gonna complain. I dig in and to my dismay it looked like rice pudding! But I touched it, I eat it...general rule.

HOLY COW!!! It was amazingly phenomenal...I had the same reaction as "hey, Mikey, he likes it, he really likes it!!!" I kept digging into this bowl while doling out measly shares of it to my husband and family. It had hints of coconut and cinnamon and wow...

Anybody ever have this? Is this typical Turkish rice pudding? I'm a rice pudding convert. First I was a panna cotta convert courtesy of Gramercy Tavern and now rice pudding at Nazar. What's next?
