My rice cooker has a 50 minute cycle for rice, and it works fine for plain rice.
I have tried adding canned beans (black eyed, northern white, pigeon pea, chick pea) and at same time stirred in jerk sauce. This would be 10 minutes into the cycle, or even later if the peas were fresh.
Then, lid down, rice cycle re-started, and back in 45 min to find the rice half cooked, and the peas or beans all on top.
Has anyone found a way to make rice and peas, with flavorings, in a rice cooker? And keep them suspended rather than peas/beans on top? Please help!!
