I like rice with my meals but rarely need more than a single serving (usually a cup cooked). Getting it right on the stovetop is maddeningly difficult - it always seems to come out underdone!
A friend of mine suggests I try a rice cooker. I know they do a great job for quantities of rice, but do rice cookers in general cook small batches well, or would it be a waste of money? (The smallest cooker I've seen is for 3 cups...are smaller ones available?)
There was a lengthy discussion on rice cookers last fall on this board, but I don't believe this subject came up.
By the way, if anyone has sure-fire stovetop (or microwave??) method for cooking small batches of rice, I'd like to know.
