other riccibono (panola) sites

Some time ago, a question arose about the location of the other Riccibono restaurant on the West Bank. Well, I can finally answer Sarah C that it is, or was, the Rex Cafe (it has closed). I don't know if it was near the court house or not, SC. Happily, the Peppermill on Severn in Metairie is still open and is also a Riccibono establishment. I have never been to that one, so I can't report on it. I do intend to continue patronizing the cozy breakfast spot on Panola Street from time to time. It's decor is more than cheery, it's a bright and refreshing habitat for a breakfast hound on the prowl. The food is competently cooked omelets and such, some with ingredients thrown in for panache (but not rising to the level of frou frou). And it's hugely patronized for a neighborhood restaurant. I guess it appeals to all types in its little mixed locale over there between Broadway and Carrolton.
