best ribs for slow cooker BBQ??

I made a batch of BBQ sauce in September and put it in the freezer and promptly forgot about it. Cleaning out the freezer this AM I found it and since tomorrow is a crazy day thought I would do some slow cooker ribs in the AM so we could have a good comfort meal when we get home. I have never made ribs this way. What kinds of ribs would be best? beef or pork? baby backs? spare? short? I googled and there are tons of recipes but almost all call for bottled sauces and/or canned soups with a variety of rib types. Anyone had any experience doing them in a slow cooker who could offer some good tips?? Thanks!
