My little T-rex review

jay | Nov 30, 2005 12:49 PM

Happy Holidays everyone-

Stopped by there on Saturday night after catching HP and Goblet of Fire...

Wife had:

grapefruit juice (delicious, fresh, maybe a tad steep at $3.50)

a salad with poached pears, goat cheese, spinach... quite tasty, wish it had a little more goat cheese...

I had:

Pulled pork sandwich w/bbcue chips

side order of macaroni/cheese

Dessert:

Coconut cake with lime cream cheese frosting with some lime/mango sauce

My thoughts:

I was really looking forward to the pulled pork - but after having an excellent one at a little dive while wine tasting in Napa the day before - I was a bit underwhelmed... I wish the bread was toasted, the meat and sauce was good, just not the Lalimes standard which I do love...

the bbcue chips again were ok, but I wish they had come out just warm/hot, these tasted just like out of the bag... the coleslaw that came out was quite tangy - I was expecting it - nice (but I didn't come for the coleslaw)

mac/cheese - I think for a bbcue place you have to ditch the foo foo bechamel nonsense and make the darn thing taste more cheddary, this was tasty but the flavors of bechamel and nutmeg do not mend well with bbcue sauce

Cake - good but amateurish, it was a huge slice for $6 - quite tasty albeit a bit dry - but again, not the level of yummness I was looking for, I was surprised that this was the dessert the waitress recommended the highest

Service - really nice (couple of very cute waitresses) and despite what I had read - our food came out really fast and the place was packed

I will have to go back and enjoy the ribs
