Revisiting The Hat during troubled times

jsl | Jul 13, 200509:59 PM

I was on my way home from a funeral today and decided to go by The Hat in Lake Forest, Orange County. The Hat has great memories of being pregnant many many years ago and having cravings for a pastrami dip and my husband driving me to The Hat to satisfy me. Well, today on my way home from the service and feeling very low I thought, heck, there is a new one in OC in Lake Forest and I will try to check my emotions and see if they are still good as I remember. Totally different from Langers pastrami but it was wonderful, exactly as I remember. There was zero fat and it was loaded with pastrami, dipped, juicy and the roll was perfect. Of course in my emotional state when I returned home I opened a good bottle of wine and made the dip last for up to 2 hours. By the end it was cold but still good. By the way, I guess The Hat came through for me because the funeral I attended was for a son of one of my dearest friends who son was the same age as mine, the father of 3 kids with physical and mental disabilities and I was emotional because I was feeling "why am I so blessed". So god bless The Hat, it came through again in troubled times. Sorry for the down side of this but as we chowhounds know good food is always there when we need support.
