Revisited: Dual Fuel v. Gas ovens -- advantages/disadvantages of each?

zin1953 | Apr 21, 201307:55 AM     14

The last discussion on the topic (http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/797313) was a couple of years ago, so I'm looking for updated opinions, if any . . .

My wife is a dedicated gas user, and is resistant to cooking with *anything* electric (save, perhaps, the rice cooker). We use the oven to roast meats and poultry, of course, but she doesn't bake -- I do . . . not breads (yet), but cakes and cookies, other desserts . . . I love the idea of being able to do three cookie sheets at once in the electric convection oven (as opposed to one cookie sheet at a time), but . . .

There is NO DOUBT that the cooktop itself will be gas. My/our questions are limited solely to the oven(s): do we get an all-gas range (gas cooktop & gas oven), or a dual-fuel range (gas cooktop & electric convection oven)?

Thoughts?
