I travel quite a bit and often uses EWR as a hub on United. Over the last year, there has been a big change with pretty much every single eatery switching over to a new identity. I would like to get some comments and reviews on all the places.
My experiences with these restaurants are less than great. They seem to be more expensive than even the normally over-priced airport food, and the supposedly ethnic food don't really taste that ethnic.
Disclaimer: I haven't tried any of the really fancy places -- even though I am traveling on an expense account, I (or my employer) will have a hard time paying for any lunch above $25. I have to assume most of the travelers are in the same social-economical level as I am, so we are not that interested in hearing about how great a $50 lunch is at one of the big name chef's outfit.
Just as a side note, my all time favorite airport eatery is Rick Bayless's Tortas Frontera at ORD -- where $20 will get you a grilled sandwich with fancy ingredients, a cup of soup, and a box of chips with salsa and guacamole. That's the kind of value I am hoping to find at EWR -- any advice?
