Review: New Pepper Pot (a.k.a. Ol' One Trick Pony Strikes Again!)

Drove over to Roxbury for lunch to grab some fish soup at the new Pepper Pot location. It's on Dudley Street heading away from Dudley Square and not too far up. Lots of on street parking at midday. Parked behind the Boston PD cruiser (eat where the cops go.)

They had a high counter to order at in the front, charming service, really easy to read menu. Fish soup is as good as ever, if not better as it clearly had more (scotchbonnet?) pepper flavor and they also honored my extra dumpling request. No breadfruit in the soup - it seems rarer and rarer as it's so expensive and hard to get, mostly dumpling, carrot and Irish (potato).

Oops, was that a patty with bun and cheese that I ate most of on the ride back? I love that they took the time to melt the cheese in the kitchen. A large soup (huge), a small, a patty with bun and cheese and a plain patty came to $12.60 inc. tax.

They have a number of tables in a bright, well maintained dining area. I'm told they've been in this location since August. The area has really changed over the past year or two even - seems like there are many more places to check out.
