This past Saturday we went for dinner at Noma for the first time. Noma is on Gerard ST. in Huntington which is a bad location (IMHO) for any retail operation. It lines the municipal parking area that is right by the Hungington Post Office. Not much exposure there unless folks live in that area and/or know Huntington well and drive down that street.

We got there at 6pm and had a drink at the bar while we watched the Belmont race with Big Brown. It's a lovely bar and very relaxing sitting there. We sat down to eat at about 6:30pm. The place was pretty empty on a Sat. night which we felt bad about. The menu looks terrific. Many appetizers, starters, a raw bar, pastas, risotto, entrees and lots of choices. So many things sounded so good we had a hard time narrowing down our choices. We ordered a bottle of wine (sorry, don't remember which) We started with a beef carpaccio on an arugula salad augula artichoke salad that also had mozzerella, french green beans and sunchokes - very good. We also ordered an order of eggplant camponata (generous size) along with the starters. For my entree I had gnocci stuffed with ricotta with a chicken ragu sauce. Delicious. My husband had the chilean sea bass with rock shrimp and a citrus sauce - another keeper -the fish melted in the mouth! We were too full for dessert and skipped it. Service was friendly, helpful and efficient. While more diners arrived by the time we left, we kept saying how we hope more people find this hidden restaurant because it was so good we'd hate to see it not succeed. Check it out, I highly recommend it and would go back in a heartbeat. www.nomarestaurant.com
