I was having a difficult day and so I decided to treat myself to a little "buffet therapy" by trying out the new Chinese Buffet in Narberth. They had just opened on Friday and I was there on Monday for lunch. I arrived around 1 and was greeted very warmly by the waitress/hostess. There were a decent amount of people in the place for a Monday late lunch.
I started by doing my usual buffet attack strategy. Scan & very small portions the first time up, then more of the favorites the second time, then dessert.
On the scan I noticed that they had the usual Chinese buffet foods: steamed peel shrimp, soups, tso's chick, green beans, fried seafood stuffed wontons, etc. The only thing remotely different was that you could get made to order sushi, which I would normally love, but had just had fish the night before.
The shrimp and green beans were both good, not over done as in some restaurants. Everything else was just very typical Chinese food. Not good, not bad, just ok. Except for the fried seafood stuffed wontons, and the spare ribs which I normally adore. They were both horrible.
When I went back for round two I got more shrimp, green beans and lo mein. Not even a full plate on round two. Very unlike me. Dessert was good, but also pretty typical.
I would say that it was an excellent deal at $5.75 including soda for an all you can eat shrimp lunch. I would go back if I was having an out and out shrimp craving, but would not recommend it as one of the better Chinese buffets.
Now the Chinese buffet in the Plymouth Meeting mall... that is realy good! (I still have to try the new seafood buffet)
