Return to NYC

edible n | Jan 22, 2013 06:41 AM

I lived in NY for 7 years and left for work reasons in July of 2012. I'm returning for the first time in 3 weeks with my wife and 8 month old. We are staying in midtown (in the 50s) and are planning on meeting some friends for dinner at Gramercy Tavern (in the Bar room, with son in tow). One other night we are getting together with friends for steaks and the final night my wife and I are getting a babysitter and would like to go somewhere fun and delicious but also close to our hotel so that we can get back pretty quickly if need be.

Not looking to do anything overly expensive - in the $75 pp range (before tax and tip), but including a bottle of wine. Thoughts?

Places I'm considering are Boulud Sud, Maze and Marea (although Marea is likely more than I want to spend). Also considering Ma Peche (love the atmosphere in that it is casual and I've always enjoyed the food) and the Modern Bar Room. Other thoughts?

I would love to try somewhere new, so Modern and Ma Peche wouldn't be the best, unless people don't have any better thoughts.

Thanks very much,
