While Joss Cuisine/Traditional has been mentioned recently in a couple of threads, it was as additions to older threads started years ago. Consequently, I thought I'd put up a new posting. Frankly, after being unimpressed with the old Joss on Sunset, I really didn't pay attention to this successor/spinoff. However, when it was included in one of those annoying top 10 Chinese restaurants in Los Angeles lists, as the only non-San Gabriel Valley restaurant in the list, I figured the writer might be on to something. Since my "agent" Judy Isozaki was footing the bill, we ordered four items off the lunch menu--ginger fish soup, braised beef with noodle soup, honey glazed cashew chicken and tofu with vegetables. The fish soup was the best of the bunch, though perhaps juiced by extra MSG. The noodle soup was decent, though not approaching SGV quality. The chicken and tofu dishes were OK. My verdict is that Joss Cuisine/Traditional rates somewhere in the ranks of the departed Chi Lin, decent but not close to the best even for the Westside.
