restaurants that bridge the generation gap

I'm bringing my mother, who is in her late 70s in April to meet up with my 2 cousins who are coming from London for the weekend. I'm looking for restaurants that we will all enjoy. Here are the parameters! Imaginative cuisine...anything but sushi....great wine list, not too loud, we are staying near Carnegie Hall but are happy to cab it to any neighbourhood you think my mother would enjoy, as far as price goes nothing more expensive than say, Babbo. Remember...if my mother's happy, we're all happy!!
