Restaurant Week First Report - MATYSON

Well tonight was our first visit to Matyson and from 6pm to about 7:45 it was 75 or more full. GREAT DINNER! I even thought - at least what we ordered - was better than Django.

Of course, I expected noisy and it was. But now the food.

They offered any appetizer and any entree and any dessert. No specials this week. Just the standard menu. I saw a lot of people with the Steak Frites when we arrived at 6pm but no one ordered it after that. Seemed like the Boulabaise was most popular item.

We each had the Quail with Goat Cheese and Fig Salad. It was LARGE portion and superb. For Entrees I had the Boulabaise and my partner had Mahi Mahi (she's on low carb.. it was served in bowl with a tomato and musroom base.) For dessert we had the Chocolate Tart with Banannas and burnt sugar ice cream. Superb and definitely a sharing item next time!

Service was fantastic.

BTW, they no longer provide the handmade stopper for unfinished wine (I had been looking forward to it). Just got back a plain old cork.

I saw a foew of the Chowhound/DDC bunch there. Good to see old friends.

Anyway, Wednesday is La Bar Lyonaisse. My first visit. Any recommendations from regulars?
