Restaurant Week: Lunch at Vidalia

AngelV | Jan 14, 2005 01:23 PM

Just returned from a delicious lunch at Vidalia.

The entire Vidalia menu is available for RW, but some add surcharges ($3-$10) if they were more expensive. I've included a link to their RW menu. Although it says it's a sample menu, but it includes pretty much everything we saw on the actual menu in the restaurant.

The place was packed, but the service didn't suffer for the most part. There was a bit of extra waiting between the clearing of our entrées and receiving the dessert menu, thus adding on extra time to get the desserts.

My colleague had the sweet potato soup, Kabocha squash risotto and the pecan tart for dessert. She loved them all, but thought the sweet potato soup was a bit better than her entrée.

I had the five onion soup, chicken and dumplings and the Black Forest shortcake for dessert. We both had the mild version ginger ale for the beverage. (Our server kindly warned my colleague about the extra spicy ginger ale actually being "really spicy." :))

The five onion soup was a great starter. The chicken in the entrée reminded me of Sunday dinners at my grandmother's. The Black Forest shortcake was served warm, so the cake soaked up some of the cherry compote. Yum!

Our meal, excluding tip, came to about $51. We were quite happy with the meal and the service. I'll definitely return to this restaurant in the future, Restaurant Week or not.
