LAradio.com (a subscription site; well worth it if you're interested in the local airwaves) reports that Mario Martinoli has been, um, relieved of his duries at KABC-AM; beginning tomorrow (Saturday) the slot will be filled with Larry Elder reruns.
Martinoli will continue his reports on Channel 9.
I wouldn't accuse him of corruption, but doesn't Martinoli -- whom I admittedly didn't listen to very much -- at least sound as if he's never eaten in a restaurant he didn't like, with a staff that was interested in anything less than the customer's complete satisfaction? Like a "homer" sports annouoncer.
Contrast that with grumpy Elmer Dills, or even Merrill Shindler, whose enthusiasm is frequently...tempered.
No word as to whether KABC will begin a new restaurant show.
