Restaurant Rec's for the East Bay?

Cookin' Cristina | Jun 21, 2005 05:48 PM

Hi, We're moving to Alameda shortly and was wondering if anyone had any restaurant recommendations. We are really into any food, as long as there is flavor... Of particular interest, we *need* to find a good sushi place in the Alameda/Oakland area, also Thai and Indian. That said, any favorite you have to recommend would be great... THANKS!

For comparison, on the Peninsula/South Bay, we are fans of:
Mexican - La Fiesta (Mountain View),
Asian/Fusion - Tour Eiffel (Los Altos), Green Papaya (Los Gatos), Three Seasons (Palo Alto), Sushi on the Run (Los Gatos)
Italian - Caffe Riace (Palo Alto) and Cafe Pro Bono (Palo Alto)
Tapas - Cascal (Mountain View)
Special Occasion - La Fondue (Saratoga), Chez TJ (Mountain View, although we weren't as impressed our last visit), Restaurant O (Campbell, although temp closed at the moment), Manresa (Los Gatos)

We've already discovered and enjoyed in the East Bay:
Mexican - Dona Thomas (Oakland)
French - La Note (Berkeley)
Asian - Mama Lan's (Berkeley)
Special Occasion - Chez Panisse (Berkeley, both upstairs and down)
