Restaurant ettiquette in Rome with a small child?

plivnik | Apr 13, 201510:09 PM

My husband and I are going to be in Rome for a week with our four-year-old. My question is: is it considered acceptable to take her to restaurants for dinner, or would I be disturbing people? Are there distinctions--i.e. a pizzeria or trattoria is okay, but not a ristorante? Any particular places you'd recommend with a kid (the food has to be good, too, please!)? For what it's worth, we make every effort to control her and she is reasonably well-behaved for an American kid, but she can sometimes be fidgety or loud (in which case we take her outside or bribe her with the i-pad). Thank you!
