Had a good birthday dinner last night at Restaurant X. Started off with a strong Kettle One bloody mary, and my husband had a strong but tasty Golden Margarita. For appetizers I had an assortment of oysters from the West Coast, they had all had a crisp ocean taste thatI like. My husband had the coconut shrimp that came with a mellow sweet slightly mustardy sauce, Also were good. I would have liked a bit more coconut. We also had popovers, these were great 3 airy puffs of buttery pastry hot out of the oven. For my entree I ordered Beef Wellington $27.00. It was the 1st time I ever ate it, so I have nothing to compare to, but it was great. The rare beef was tender and wrapped under a coating of a mushroom like pate, and the pastry case was excellent, and a totally different flavor from the one used for the popovers. My husband had the trout with a macadamia crust and pineapple topping $23.00. Also great. For I side dish I had the creamed spinach which was perfectly prepared. After having 3 brithday celebrations, each with a cake earlier in the day I regretfully coudln't stand the thought of another dessert, but the selections were good and if I chose one it would have been the warm coconut cake. The service was excellent. Except I had to ask for water 4 times... we'd go back but only for a special occasion.
