I bought a de Buyer blue steel fry pan a couple days ago and cleaned it with hot water and wiped it down before seasoning it with Crisco vegetable oil. The bottom and about 2/3 of the sides are perfect. Nice color and just about everything slides right off, however the last third seems to have some sort of residue on it that is slick, but not like the rest of the pan. I've tried heating up oil and boiling water and even a small brush with a little bit of Comet and nothing seems to touch the stuff.
Did I mess up something in the cleaning or seasoning? Or should I just not worry about it. I've cooked Bacon in it a couple times with no problems. I just don't want to mess up a new pan before I even get to use it.
