residual flavors in cast iron?

So, I usually use my cast iron skillets for savory things (e.g. sauteeing onions, garlic etc. for sofrito). I've seen posted here and elsewhere, and enjoyed eating from, many recipes that involved baking sweet things in your skillet. Here's the problem--my skillet smells too much like onions, etc. for me to even consider making a pineapple upside down cake in it.

do others have this problem? how do you solve it? Is my nose overly sensisitive? Don't tell me you have two skillets, one for sweet and one for savory?! Is my skillet inadequately seasoned (very likely)?

Any help appreciated, so that I too can enjoy Beranbaums' pineapple upside down cake as it was meant to be prepared!
