Having missed the first episode on Paris, I tuned in last night to Anthony Bourdain's new show on the Travel Channel. I lasted for half the show, and I was being kind. For me, IMHO, this is only a bare step above the boredom that he evoked on the FoodTV network.
I never cease to be amazed by all the pre-show hype and frenzy that the PR/spin media machine creates. He may be able to oversee a passable bistro and offer a amusing quip or sound bite from time to time on the state of the culinary world, but give him a full-length show and you see he's not really any more entertaining than the rest of us. If he's still got that gig in Vietnam/SE Asia, he's one lucky guy.
