Help me out, chows! I have reservations for five at LAcademie de Cuisines professional culinary school (in Gaithersberg, MD) for the annual holiday wine dinner this Friday night. It was supposed to be a family affair, with my parents coming into town to meet us for the dinner. Unfortunately, my father is having health problems, so weve suddenly cancelled plans. That leaves me with five reservations at $75 eachwhich I have prepaidand the cancellation period for the dinner has long passed. This should be a terrific dinnerprepared by LAcademie students and instructors, these wine dinners are one of the best culinary bargains and best experiences around. There will be a wine tasting before dinner, followed by an extravagant four-course dinner, served in the kitchen as diners watch. A different wine is served with each course, and a wine expert is on hand to talk about the pairing. LAcademie founder Francois Dinot will prepare the dinner and talk to diners about each course. The menu is poached oysters with leeks and caviar, chesnut soup with foie gras flan, roast goose breast with the leg confit with a red currant sauce, followed by a margoline, a French dessert cake. Please email me at email@example.com if youre interested. Id prefer to sell all five reservations to one party, but if thats too difficult, Ill try breaking them up. BTW, the LAcademie catalogue lists this dinner as being on Sat., Nov. 22 with a price of $85. However, the date and price were changed. New date is Friday, Nov. 21, and the price is $75 each.
