We got reservations for mother's day brunch at a place that does not make it widely known it takes reservations. We get there a little early and check in and they tell us they will try to get us in earlier than our allotted time if they can. Of course the place is packed so we have no expectation of getting in early but as luck would have it they call us. The interesting part was that they made the distinction that we had reservations when they announced our party. The host said something like 'Tracy party of three from the reservation list your table is ready'. Was I made an example to all those other people who failed to call ahead (my MIL's spin on the announcement)? Or was the staff afraid there would be back lash from those waiting a long time if a family that just walked in was seated before them? Lastly, has anyone else experienced this? If it makes any difference it was at a upscale coffee shop.
