Thanks to all for the suggestions - I've checked them out and my comments are below.
My top two contenders are Redline and the Om lounge. I'm wondering how loud Redline would be about 7 PM on a Saturday night - either people or music? I gather it gets really loud later on when it becomes a club, but is it more like a restaurant or noisy bar scene earlier - or a bit of both. For those familiar with the Om lounge menu, would a couple of these dishes more or less make a meal? thanks
Redline – very reasonably priced for apps and entrees and the food seems to get consistently good reviews. Reading reviews it is obvious that it becomes a different animal later at night.
Red House – small entrees seem reasonable, but apps and wine prices look high
Casablanca – I didn’t find “small plates” on the on-line menu, so I called and the person who answered had no idea what I was talking about. The standard menu is higher than what we want to spend this night.
Harvest bar menu – high prices for what looks like very little food; $12 for a hot dog?
Om – the web site announces a “half-price” lounge menu daily from 5-7, which looks interesting, if only to sample the décor and atmosphere. Reviews seem very mixed.
Cambridge 1 – prices are reasonable, but one of my requirements was a non-noisy experience, and the comments suggest otherwise
Monday Club Bar – very few, and not particularly interesting, dishes in my target price range
Grafton Street – prices outside range except for fish & chips, mac & cheese, etc.
West Side Lounge – don’t mind the walk itself, but time is more the issue. Their web site seems nonfunctional – I tried to select “Food”, but nothing happens.
Small Plates – didn’t look as I like Tapas in Spain, but here it just feels like little food for a lot of money
Dolphin Seafood – website only gives a sampling of what they serve with no prices, so I didn’t investigate further
