Reporting back on Mint Juleps

Mariana in Baja | May 7, 201107:53 PM

Great party - thanks everyone. I find it easier to have a party with a theme and this worked despite the fact that I had the actual race off by over an hour - so late lunch was not quite so late and dessert was even before the race. So - mint juleps - I opted for the infusion into the simple syrup rather than the booze. I couldn't believe it but I ran out - I honestly didn't think anyone would drink it - there were about 30 people here and they loved it. So - I had made a large quantity of simple syrup for the iced tea (hah!!) and I had an extra bottle of booze ( I bought Seagrams 7) and I quickly mixed two times booze to one part simple syrup and added a ton of mint and just kind of muddled it around. The vote was that the second batch was better. ( A youngish Mexican friend was the bar tender and he said that everyone said that seconds were much better - hmmmm perhaps seconds with booze are always better.) Thanks for all the help.
