Thanks to chowhounds (was it rworange?) for pointing me in the direction of this lovely little goat cheese dairy in Pescadero. The gf and I spent some time there this past weekend (open sun 11-5) tasting their farmstead cheeses and talking to the owner, a very friendly gal. We wound up with a fresh ricotta, a chevre w/apricot and pistachio, and a (black) peppered chevre... wonderful all. The ricotta got it's flavor from the milk and was not overly salted, it had a lovely texture. The apricot/pistachio was not sweet but had piquant fruit and only a mild nut crunch. The pepper was hot and that was the main hit on the tongue.

I will go back to try more. The older goats (200+) were sweet and fun to watch, but I am certainly going back in early spring when the baby goats are born. For prices, times, location, etc.. check out the website: www.harleyfarms.com.
