Earlier tonight we did a mondo 8th ave snack crawl and trawl:
Kokola Cafe at 53rd - coal fired and sweet curry (?) brushed on octo, fish balls, tofu!
Cart east side of the street and a few blocks south, ladies with th deep fryer: taro, twice fried wings, snappy squid!
Back across the street to one of the Fujan steam table joints dishing out on the sidewalk - a huge stryo full of hacked fried crab for $5 (leftovers in the frig). Crazy oily of course, especially since they were cold but I knew what I was getting. Still plenty crabby! (Some of the places packing up roast meats and chicken feet are going crazy now with the offal! Maybe when we're ready to add to something cooked up at home.)
We finished at the newish outlet of Egg Custard King. Way happening! Sago, Portuguese and trad. Rich, light and flaky.
I'm fat and now fatter. We bailed on movies and decided to loll around on the couch with a dvd and fresh growler from Grab.
