in late oct i dined at this one star restaurant.
the setting in several rooms is rather comfortable bourgeois .the diners were mostly local.
i went solo and was given a table where i could observe the happening of the place.the staff was very helpful and friendly.the menu is mostly inventive cuisine, however it has tradional dishes under les suggestions du jour.
i opted for the 45 euros 3 course menu.another choice is the 70 euro menu degustation.
the interesting amuse bouche was a play on sweet, salt and spice and set the stage for what followed.
the appetizer was tuna with chunks of citrous fruit and shaped as cylinders. there were also 2 side dishes, one of fried calamari and another of fried green bananas.also a tartish yogurt based sauce.
the whole eating sensation was the interplay of sweet, salt and tartness.a very interesing and tasty experience.an apple cider was the palate cleanser.
lamb was le plat principal.it also came as a cylinder
together with a side dish of savory mashed potatoe and another of stuffed dumpling.thus ones taste buds are titillated with a new and enjoyable sensation.
i drank crozes hermitage/2000 by jaboulet with the appetizer and volnay /2000 by rossignol-feorrier
with the lamb.they both complemented the food.
they had good fruit, a beautiful balance and a liveiy presence.
the dessert was flutes of chocolates filled with hazelnut with a side of violette ice cream.a delicious contrast between the intense chocolate and the cool and delicate ice cream.
this restaurant seems like a more reasonable version of pierre gagnaire.actually its easy to get there
