Finally checked out Wolfgang's Puck newest restaurant, the postmodern brasserie Vert at Hollywood & Highland.
It was a pleasant suprise, as I wasn't expecting much after hearing horror stories about the food at his Wolgang Puck Cafes.
Good assortment of bread was accompanied by a very tasty slice of French goat cheese/olive tapenade in olive oil that quickly became addictive. I had the Vert salad, which had large slices of mortadella, salami and a nicely spicy dressing. Main course was an excellent, thick, perfectly cooked veal "NY steak" au poivre. I must say the side of potatoes gratin were outstanding. Desert was fine if on the small side; 2 light as air Italian "doughnuts" served with a wonderful toasted almond ice cream.
The interior is cool, some retro touches, i.e., funky green/blue tall booths mixed with some nifty postmodern design.
I would definitely go back, and would love to hear anyone else's impression.
