Stopped by the original on Federal for lunch and to see if recent reports of slippage were accurate.

Based on my experience, everything appears to be just fine.

I ordered a Jaxx Burger and a medium Corn In Cup.

The burger was HUGE. Menu say 1/2 lb, but the cooks must've
been feeling generous that day. It was cooked WAY rare as requested.
That must not be a very common occurence as the mgr looked after I took a bite and asked if it needed to be cooked more. I assured him I preferred my beef still breathing.

Jaxx is a gloriously sloppy burger, topped with guacamole, sour cream, cheese, bacon and green chile. Heart attack on a bun!

Only the bacon wasn't up to snuff...tasted cheap, but didn't detract
from the overall goodness. JnG has won Westword's Best Burger and I can see why. Awesome stuff.

As for Corn In Cup, I realize they use freezer bag corn, but that does not deter me, corn slut that I am. This is just a way yummy dish. A pile of corn kernels complemented with red chile powder, hot sauce, butter and parmesan cheese, with a couple of limes for squeezing on top. Deelish.

Service was friendly and well meaning even if she wasn't the sharpest
tool in the shed. Don't know about the new location...perhaps I'll seek it out next week and do a comparison. But for the time being, all is well at the original Jack N Grill.
