We have dined at Cool Runnings about once a week since we first checked it out a few months ago. It is located on NE Fremont near 42nd. It's a small space, reggae is always playing softly in the background, and the food is excellent.
We have tried two appetizers, the grilled portobello mushroom is marinated in a tangy balsamic sauce and is topped with parmesan cheese - yum! The cajun salmon cakes are served with a dill sauce on the side and are excellent - even better if you use the extremely tasty housemade hot sauce to give them a little extra kick. All of the salads we've tried are good and fresh, including an interesting take on potato salad.
We've tried the blackened catfish po' boy, Cajun oyster po'boy, and Cajun tofu sandwich (all very good), and the spicy Crawfish pasta (awesome). The collard greens are some of the best we've ever tasted. The menu boasts Cajun and Caribbean items, including a few vegetarian and several seafood selections, and quite a few meat or poultry dishes.
Beer & wine (including Red Stripe if you want to bring back memories of that Jamaican vacation) as well as Ting (Jamaican soda pop) are served....the dessert menu looks nice, but so far we've always filled up on dinner and failed to save room. Maybe next time.
