Report - Awesome Chowdown at Red Kwali 15 course meals

All 8 of us showed up promptly at 7 pm at this upscale looking restaurant in Newark. Everything was shared together. We also met with Louis, the gracious host and the husband of the lady owner.

I will let the other hounds chime in on what they enjoyed but here is what we had:

Ayam Limau Purut: chicken in coconut based spices with a faint hint of kaffir lime.

Daging Rendang: beef in coconut based spicy sauce.

Stuffed tofu in soup.

Ikan goreng Tauco: fried boneless fillet of fish in bean sauce

Grill cuttlefish and on choy

Kuih Pie Tee: fried fritter with bits of shrimps and chili sauce

Sop Ekor is actually oxtail soup with potatoes

Rojak China is a mix of veg, tofu and cuttlefish doused in sweet peanut sauce

Char Kwee Tiauw is fried flat noodle (Chow fun) with shrimps, bean sprouts, green onion and some special sauce

Laksa asam: noodles with mackerel and seafood in coconut based spicy sauce

Roti Canai: flat thin flour crepe with peanut based sauce

Chicken satay with rice cubes, sliced cucumber and red onions. A peanut sauce is provided also

Chick Kut Teh: herbal chicken soup

Agar santan: shaped like flower, two layers. Top layer is agar and bottom is custard like texture. Sauce is sweet coconut juice

Water melon tapioca: melon is shaped like round ball in a decorative arrangement on top of coconut based sauce swimming with lots of tiny tapioca balls.

For drinks:
-Ice Mango tea
-Rose syrup with selasih seeds
-Longan drink

My personal opinion is that this is one of the most memorable chowdown I have had. Very few misses. However, others may have their own opinions.
