Replacing fresh tart cherries (literally impossible to find in March) for frozen cherries? Yay or nay?

Planning on doing a pepper crusted duck breast with a cherry port reduction. Realized too late in the game that I grabbed a bag of grapes instead of cherries.. Can I run to the grocery store and thaw out a bag of cherries instead of using fresh ones?
