Hounds, we have the unfortunate luck to have a 36" DCS with a non-functioning oven (with a perfectly good cooking range) that is beyond repair. The unit is 14 years old but companies only support them for 7 (by law) so we're told the thermostat we need is unavailable. Period. Here is my message to their customer support:
"We have been informed that our oven, which requires a thermostat, is no longer repairable. We are very unhappy about this and believe it speaks very poorly of your company and brand. For all your talk of sustainability you are telling us we need to send a perfectly good range to the landfill. We will not be purchasing your products in the future and will recommend the same to our friends and associates."
So- what to replace it with? Fisher Paykel DCS is out of the question. Here are the first couple we saw:
A floor model Viking VGCC Professional Gas for $4,499 vs $7,499. It's about $2K more than we want to spend. Is it worth it?
A Verona VEFSGE365SS for $2,499. Does anyone have experience with Verona?
Finally, what can one do with a perfectly good gas cook stove with a dead oven? I can't stand the thought of sending it to a landfill.
