Repair or Replace Cuisinart Food Processor?

zackly | Apr 12, 201606:18 AM     9

I need to replace all the plastic parts above the base on my 15+ year old Cuisinart DLC 14 BC food processor. The cost for these parts is approximately $130.00. A new similar machine can be bought for just under $200.00 on Amazon. Over the years I’ve had to replace the top assembly a couple of times. The locking tab system is the Achilles heel of Cuisinart food processors. My options are spending the 130 for replacement parts, buying a new machine for 200 or buying a competitor’s food processor for 200 or less, preferably much less. Does anyone make a good, powerful food processor that isn’t too expensive? I used to own a thirty dollar Panasonic food processor in the eighties that was an unbreakable workhorse. I do use my food processor to develop bread dough occasionally, when I don’t want to use my stand mixer, so it needs to be powerful. Thanks!
