Reno new coffee shop-tahoe roasting co

California Southwest Coffeehouse Nevada Reno

This morning I visited "Tahoe Roasting Company" at 616 W. 4th street. It is really warm and cute inside, a perfect coffee shop ambiance. The guy at the counter is truly obsessive about coffee, offering little samples, talking about his tracking system for creating perfect blends of beans, he will work with you on creating your perfect cup, keep the formula on the computer, and french press you your own perfectly blended cup on demand. He was working out a formula for the perfect blend for those who like to add half and half. Said he was on his 60th pot, feels he is close to having the blend ratio's correct. I love places like this, where the product reflects great heart as well as fine craft. They also have soups (homemade by grandma), sandwiches, and various simple lunch and breakfast items. The second Sunday of each month (I think that is what I remember), they offer coffee tasting, all day long. Open 6am -7pm. Give it a try and report back!

Thanks for the report. I saw this mentioned in the RGJ a week or so ago. I was surprised that they get their coffee roasted in Spokane, I know that there are several coffee roasters in the Reno area that would have loved to have gotten the business and kept it local. However a good bowl of soup is always a draw for me, so I may check it out someday for lunch.

I had the opportunity to stop by this little coffee shop, and I must say I was very impressed. I had a little trouble finding the place but it was well worth it once I got inside. The baristta was very friendly and offered me a sample cup to try their coffee right at the start. I had a mocha and it was the best I've ever had, well in Reno at least. They also have this stuff called white coffee, which sounds very interesting. It has more caffeine then a regular coffee, and supposed to make the drinks taste like ice cream. I didn't try the white coffee, but am sure going to stop back by for at least a mocha. Not only do they do coffee but also have sandwiches, soup, and free Wifi. I've never written a review before and I wanted to for Tahoe Roasting.

even though i'm not a big coffee drinker, i stopped in to tahoe roasting because i had heard they had good food. i stopped in for lunch and was definitely impressed by their great prices and the fact that everything is home-made... even the soups are made from scratch (and only a couple of bucks!).

the first thing i noticed was the art on the walls. the barista told me that the artist whose paintings they are displaying is making them a new sign soon that is going to be "green" because its powered by solar panels and made out of all used scrap metal, which i thought was cool. (by the way, if you ever wanted to know anything about coffee, talk to tommy, the barista, because he's like a coffee encyclopedia!)

even though i don't really drink a lot of coffee, i decided to get a white coffee, which is made out of unraosted coffee beans. tommy did some cool latte art on top with chocolate syrup- it looked like an intricate flower- it was so cool and still cheaper than the other coffee shops in downtown reno. i definitely recommend this place- i spent hours in there using the free wi-fi!
