This is a reminder to all DC area chowhounds that we will be having a Chinese banquet on Saturday eve., April 16. There is plenty of space, so for those of you who haven't gotten back to me yet or didn't notice the last time this was posted, please join us. Details are below.
Date: April 16, Saturday eve.
What: A traditional Chinese banquet (which is different from just ordering a lot of stuff). Seating will be in tables of 10 with the courses served sequentially, and traditional banquet formalities will generally be observed.
Where: Hollywood East restaurant (the new location) in Wheaton; as CH regulars know, HE has a fine reputation for its Hong Kong style cooking.
Menu: 13 courses, including such items as scallops on the half-shell, Vancouver dungeness crab, and suckling pig. I will send you more complete information on request, but it will be good. We will be avoiding endanged/super expensive ingredients such as shark's fin, abalone, and bird's nest.
Price: $72 per person plus tax and gratuity; I believe it will be well worth it.
