Does Anyone Remember La Griglia?

roxlet | Apr 9, 2008 07:23 AM

La Griglia was an Italian restaurant in Little Italy that made the most amazing garlic bread. I almost hesitate to call it garlic bread since it had a garlic/cream/cheese sauce poured over it. I've never had anything like it since and I have tried, without success to replicate it. I'd love to know if any place in the area makes something similar, or if anyone else remembers having this, or if anyone knows how to make it. They also had an amazing vinaigrette dressing whose "secret ingredient" was anchovy. I think that the owner's name was Tony and I vaguely remember that he closed it after winning the lottery! To jog your memory, it was long and narrow and it had two quirky-looking life-sized dolls in the window. I'm going to say late 1970s...
