Anyone remember Johnson's Tamale Grotto in SF?

cmvan | Jun 18, 200706:22 PM     34

We used to go to the one on Vicente at 24th.
Specifically, I'm talkin' about their Turkey Tamales with the special Tamale Gravy. We've been trying to track down the recipe for that gravy, but the restaurant was sold years ago, and, according to one of the original owners, the gravy recipe was possibly only in the heads of his deceased brother and sister, who'd been the chefs.

But who knows? Maybe someone knows the secret recipe for that tamale gravy. If you ever had it, you'll definitely remember it.
