I lived in Zambia back in the day, and consulted for a brewery. We visited Harare for some supplies and my GF and I went to an Indian restaurant that was recommended to us. We thought it was down the street, but it was over an hour in one of those memorable completely-destroyed taxis they have in Southern Africa.
When we got there in the pitch black, after about 30 minutes looking for it (the driver had no clue, not to mention less than one headlight in pitch-black mid-African landscape), it was like a mirage. Like a James Bond dinner location, a fantastic building specifically for the restaurant.
The woman at the front asked us if we needed a taxi to get back to our location in Harare, to which we said "yes, but we want to relax through this meal so it's best not to order one right now." She disagreed and said it was better to order one now. She had the experience. Turns out they were still an hour late after two hours "eating".
In any case, the meal was excellent. Very memorable. But I can't remember the name of the restaurant nor the location.
Does anybody have any recollection of where we could have been? I'm all ears.
