trying to remember what this ethnic food was...

About a dozen years ago, I attended a wedding in brooklyn, ny. It was at a catering hall that specialized in this one ethnic group of eastern europeans. The food was fantastic! All I remember though, is that there were 3 weddings all taking place in one communal area: 2 on the main floor, and one in the balcony. Apparantly, the deal was, if you didn't mind sharing the space with 2 other weddings, one band was hired and played for everyone, and all got served course after course of the same foods all night long. Oh but the food just kept on coming! I don't know why I didn't bother making a note of it, it was perhaps czech, yugoslavic, hungarian, who knows what... I really wish I knew.

Does what I described ring a bell with anyone as to what ethnic food I ate that night?
