Remember Bucci's in Emeryville

Cheesy Oysters | Oct 18, 2010 04:00 PM

We hadn't been to Bucci's for years especially because there are so many good Italian and pizza joints close to home such as Dopo, Pizzaiolo, and now even closer in Bellanico and Marzano on Park. My son wanted to go to the movies at Bay Street and I suggested Bucci's on Saturday night. Well it was like seeing an old friend - one I wish I got to see more often. It was great to see the owner seating guests as well.

We started off with the half Caesar and the Yellowfin tuna tartare served with an orange and maybe celery root salad. I have always loved their Caesar and it was as good as I remembered with the tangy dressing. We both loved the tartare.

I chose the Timpone pizza with sausage and it was also very good and just like I've had before. My partner had the risotto with butternut squash, bacon, and sage. This was perfect for an evening with a little chill in the air.

I really didn't need dessert but I spotted a risotto rice pudding with chocolate. I asked the server if I could have a little caramel that came with another dessert and I was sold. It was served chilled with a nice dollop of whipped cream on top. I would have preferred it warmed but I still enjoyed it.

Bucci's has a full bar but we chose to get the Grenache that our server recommended. We both liked it and ordered a refill.

I didn't see any recent posts so I wanted to do an update. If you are looking for a very nice dining experience and something not too loud where the tables are nicely spaced, remember Bucci's in Emeryville. We also walked in around 6:30 without a reservation. It was half full or so but it was pretty full when we left.
